I am a pastor to children and this is basically how I am explaining Lent to them tonight at our Ash Wednesday Service.
.
Lent is a unique time in our church calendar. We stop and think about our life. We look to see if there is something there that is not pleasing to God and we ask forgiveness. During Lent, we often choose to abstain from an activity to make space in our life to include a Spiritual Discipline. We do this to celebrate our commitment to Christ and allow our lives to be changed by Him. During Lent, we get our hearts ready to celebrate Easter.
