There’s a good chance that Drew and I will be debt-free (for the first time in our life together as a married couple!) by the end of ’08.
I think we’ll be switching to only eating organic fruits and vegetables, at least during the summer (our freezer isn’t big enough to hold a winter’s worth of preserved food even if I did have the time and knowledge to do something like that…although maybe I’ll try to freeze something easy like strawberries?)
Julie…Congratulations!! Wow…sounds like you are in for quite a ride. Where is Mike starting school, when will you be moving and when is the baby due?
I’m expecting a job change sometime this year…still praying for the way to open and the wisdom to see it. I’m trying to make a commitment to eating more locally grown food but it’s pretty challenging to do that in the midwest in winter. I’m praying for more peace in my life, my home our world.
Well, the baby is due at the very start of July. Mike has applied to a few schools around Austin. If he gets in he hopes to start classes in the fall, so we would move in the late summer.
My husband and I are calling this 2008 the year of living dangerously! He’s quit his full time, salaried, pensionable job to be a full time creative and to help with child care for our first baby, due in a few weeks. I’m going to be looking very hard for theatre and film work, he’s going to be writing and producing short films. I’ve also made the decision to only buy fair trade clothes for myself this year. And if I can’t afford fair trade, I’ll go to charity shops or borrow stuff from friends. With any luck I’ll be able to get back into my pre-pregnancy clothes and won’t have to be buy anything new.
My focus for the year is going to be ‘seek first the kingdom’ – don’t quite know how this will pan out but I’m excited to be on the path.

Miz Melly, congrats to you too! I am so happy for you! If you are at all thinking about going natural, check out Ina May’s guide to childbirth and read the chapter on sphincter law. Birth is a creative process, just like your life and your husbands! And good for him for being involved and you both for taking a risk at a time in life when most people chalk anything risky up to youth and poor judgment. I admire you!
To sound completely pitiful… I just hope I can go home this year. I’ve been working 2 years out of the home while my husband and I role-reversed so that he could finish his masters in theology. In the process, the opposite of what you’d expect happened – we began the deconstruction process and are now out of organized church completely.
Anyway – he’s trying to figure out a new direction for him for work and I’m holding my breath to get back home to my children. 2006 was bad and 2007 was worse. 2008 had better pull it out of the hole, and soon!

Changing… um everything!
We are expecting baby #2. We are leaving our church jobs, moving to Austin, and Mike is hoping to start grad school.
In other words life will be rather crazy this year!

Julie…Congratulations!! Wow…sounds like you are in for quite a ride. Where is Mike starting school, when will you be moving and when is the baby due?

The New community House For All Sinners and Saints will get off the ground here in Denver and Lord willing I’ll be ordained in my tribe, the ELCA.
