Very good review, particularly the "accountant/editor" distinction. I think that's a significant idea in its own right.

How often have you seen "accountability relationships" work? As for me, the answer is "never." And why would they? It's not really a situation that lends itself to baring one's soul, is it?

so very true. it is hard to really learn, think, and grow when one has to constantly defend the basics of one's beliefs or be taunted with untrue lies and rumors. Safe places are a necessity.

I may be accused of blog whoring ... but!

Someone commented in on one of my posts about how we emerging/missional folks need rooms of requirement in which to practice away from the inquiring eyes of the Filches of the world. So perhaps it's not as far-fetched as we think to mix the two up.

great review, thanks for posting this here.

I did have to laugh at the mention of organic church and Harry Potter in the same post. I was having fun with friends yesterday constructing an argument for how Harry's choice between hallows or horcruxes can be used as a metaphor for attractional vs. missional/organic churches... Yes, I know I'm weird.

you're so right about the apology owed Jo Rowling (I'm only about two thirds through HP and the D.H. so I'm glad you didn't give spoilers).
I got tarred and feathered, myself, on Charisma forum once some dear 'friends' who disagreed with me over simple church in one topic 'casually' let slip in private messages to others that I read Harry Potter.
With Christian 'brothers and sisters' like that who needs atheists?
